Manipur has been suffering a blockade of supplies as part of the agitation to meet certain demands from some sections of the society there. Neither the union govt nor the state govt seems to have done anything concrete to restore peace in Manipur. They do not even seem to be inclined towards it.
Under the circumstances, our great and Honourable Home Minister P. Chidambaram assures that provisions are available in Manipur but prices are high!! The high prices he means are as much as or even more than ten times the price required to be paid during normal life.
Will he pay the prices to buy the provisions? Who will pay for it? What is the great idea of this ridiculous statement? The government declared not long ago that those in rural & urban India can live with Rs.26/- & Rs.32/- per day inclusive of education and health care. These amounts would possibly not fetch even a cup of tea today at Manipur.
Does this not remind us of the act while Rome was burning? Will P. Chidambaram live in Manipur and administer the country from there till the problems are solved?
